Webmiss

Hello there, this is where you can find out all about … me. Yes, well anyway, as it was getting too big (profile that is, not my ego), I thought I would add some quick links to make things a bit easier.

Hello there, my name is Huma but more known as Kaz on the internet. A British Indian Muslim, 30 years old, making me a Taurus with a birthstone of Emerald. I was born in North Wales, Wrexham, before moving to Manchester, at the age of five. I have one older sister and I move around between living with my parents and living in my rented house.

I have 10 GCSEs and 3 A-levels. In 2006 I gradated in Management Systems with Multimedia, which I studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, with a 2:1. After a year out, I decided to go back to University to study a Masters and in 2008, I completed my Masters and I now have an MSc in Computing.

I currently work as an Oracle Apps DBA for a company based in Hertfordshire. Currently though, I am on the first part of my placement and am working up in North Yorkshire, near Middlesbrough. I absolutely love it up here.

I am a very open-minded girl and when I personally do not agree with something, I accept and respect other people's decisions and choices.

Two things to note about me, I am obsessed with Hello Kitty and I love Neji Hyuuga. I am also a huge Disney fan.

For more about my personality traits, etc. check out this Enneagram-test, I took. It’s quite accurate, kind of scary to be honest!

My main interest currently, is web-designing. I used to be into writing but this has taken a back step in all honesty as I find I do not have the time. Music wise, I love the olden day music compared to all the new stuff out but I do love Christina Aguilera. I love reading and watching Manga and Anime, and have been doing since a younger age but I love reading comics, such as the original Spiderman and X-men. I am also a huge fan of the WWE and F1.

The shows that I like to watch, are Charmed, I love this show more than I can say, and the usual England soaps, EastEnders, Corrie etc. Recently I have gotten into musicals. Phantom of the Opera is one I love so much, alas, I have not seen the Broadway but I really want to. I love the music more than anything and have fallen in love with the film. I am currently reading the book.

Book wise, I love reading a good old romance.Yeah, like I said I am a hopeless romantic. Give me a love story and I can guarantee you, I will be there sobbing and demanding that they get together and squealing if they do. I also do love a good mystery. I love racking my brains trying to work out, ‘who did it’. Of course, I love the timeless classics a lot. Give me Little Women and I can tell you now, I shall not put it away until I have read it five times again. Other like Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, I am exactly the same with. It is exactly the same with the TV series and naturally, I love reading Manga.

I also love designing websites and have been doing so since 2004 now. I have to stand up and say that when I first began web designing, my layouts were terrible. I hardly knew anything when I began. Oh, of course, I knew the basics and stuff but thank goodness for Belle who taught me about style sheets. When I first started out, I was more interested in making my layouts look pretty rather than markup and easy to navigate. I mean I used to use iframes with 8pt text and have tiny text as the navigation! Over the years, I guess I have gotten better, but I am going to leave that up to the people who saw how I started out and what they see today.

My first website was my Ryou x Anzu shrine, At Home with the Bakura's. Then, I moved into fanlistings and blogging. Gypsy-Rose (known as Spirit back then) was actually my blog hosted by Belle, before I bought my own domain.

I used to own a lot of domains, nowadays though I have cut back to, my personal domain, my fanlisting collective, my online portfolio and my hosting collective domain. My sites tend to plain and simple because I am not very much into lots of brushes and patterns, I stick to what I know =D.

In manners of programming, I can code in Java, SMIL, Delphi and C++. I can code in, HTML and XHTML. I have also been taught XML, XSL and small bits of JavaScript; I can also use Flash Macromedia. Also, I have studied VRML and have completed a full virtual maze for a project. I also have studied Management and hopefully I will pursue a career in this sector or the current course I am studying in, which is Flash and Dreamweaver web design course. On completing my MSc, I have been taught how to code in SQL (using Oracle and MySQL) and Lingo. You can view my portfolio http://hkarim.net for more information.

My main dislikes are of course, I cannot stand any sort of abuse, racist people and such. Other things, which irk me are people who cannot respect other people's choices. Other things, which annoy me to no end are copycats, I hate the people who copy my style, please be yourself not me. Also, people who use other people, and general stupidity. Oh and of course, direct linkers, who love to steal my bandwidth.

Those special people

In my life, there have been three important relationships.

My first love is Hubert. Hubert was my first, trustworthy, old HP laptop. Our relationship lasted for over 3 years and not once did he ever let me down or refuse to load up any page, or crash. Well, not until the final days of our relationship that is. Hubert took a lot of stick from me, I dropped him loads of times, broke the keyboard, and managed to spill coffee all over him and even though he had to go away to be fixed, he always came back. It was the prefe4ct relationship, well, that was until one day, when his power supply went kaput. So as I was waiting for a replacement one, I started to use Della (more on her later), and well it was during this time that I began to wander and drift away from him. I wanted a younger, more up to date laptop and sadly, I called time on the relationship and bought another laptop. Even now though, he still always boots up for me when I need him.

My longest relationship would be Delirium. Delirium, is my Dell, Inspiron 640m laptop. We have a love, hate relationship. He is temperamental, loves to break down and his favourite trait is to ignore me. However, he is my baby, and the main, um laptop, in my life. Delirium loves to throw random errors at me and make me go through chkdsk all the time. Still, we work fine, as long as he listens to me and I do not load up any websites likely to make him work extra (as in flashy, graphic heavy, animated background, tiny text type layouts). He also hates IE.

Lenvi, is my bit on the side. On holidays to Singapore, I wanted a small laptop (why when I was abroad, I have no idea but) so I bought a Lenovo, S10 notebook. He’s tiny, discrete and I can pull him out at any times when Deliriums not looking. They really don’t get on, it’s mostly likely that when I place them both side by side, Delirium likes to throw a hissy fit and refuses to work. For work on the go and when I am working in bed, Lenvi is great! Oh, he’s also a lot faster than Delirium but um, won’t be mentioning that to him any time soon.

However, I am happy to announce that I have a new love in my life, since Delirium ditched my for my sister. Meet my brand new, gorgeous, wide screen, high definition, sexy etc, new Dell Laptop called Exie, short for exhilaration. Which was my first emotion when I saw him (well there was another one but I felt naming him after that a bit hard to explain). So far he has been fine, works very nicely except when I run him on the batteries and then he starts to complain – he does that also when I work him hard but oh well. A lot faster than any of my other two but then again he is a new generation so :)

Oh yes, I guess I must mention Della. Della in my mum’s Dell PC and she is a prissy, spoilt, little diva (Della that is, not my mum). She likes to take her time loading up websites and heavens above if we try and run two things at the same time. Any sites she doesn’t like well chances of that loading are slim. Took forever for her to realise I am going to use firefox, even if it doesn’t display the website all nice. Well apart from that, at least she looks nice, nothing else to say about her really. Again she and Delirium hate each other, I can’t tell which one has the biggest ego between them really.

My name meaning

The Huma, also known as the “bird of paradise,” is a Persian mythological bird, similar to the Egyptian phoenix, which consumes itself in fire every few hundred years, only to rise anew from the ashes. It is considered to be a compassionate bird. The touch of the Huma is said to bring great fortune.

It avoids killing for food, rather preferring to feed on carrion. The Persians teach that great blessings come to that person on whom the huma’s shadow falls. The word huma in the Persian language stands for a fabulous bird. There is a belief that if the huma bird sits for a moment on someone’s head it is a sign that he will become a king. – Taken from Wikipedia.

Huma was not actually my first name, when I was born my mother called me Diba. My first birth certificate actually carries that name. Thankfully, my Nani intervened and said she didn’t like that name and my name was later changed to Huma. It’s so weird having two birth certificates, when I was applying for my mortgage I had to take both of them along. It’s just so bizarre!
